So, I've been directing Tell Tale Heart. You know what's great? I think of how I acted on my last couple projects, and this... I make these gigantic leaps. No, Tell Tale Heart is not going to be a masterpiece. I'm just looking at it- I know what I want, I know how to get it. Not having the right actors sucks, so improvision is necessary. Sometimes dialog doesn't work-I'm not a great writer.

But I feel at ease, and people respond to me. And I get shit done. Really, that's what it is. As pathetic as this sounds, when I start shooting I become the Captain of the Mother Fucking Enterprise. I'm there. I have to listen to my crew. You don't let Dr. Crusher make command decisions, but you don't let the captain threat your wounds. I'm there more now than ever before. I'm just really feeling confident like I never had before.
